DNA + 2012 = Makeda's Journey
Wow… it’s finally happened, an interactive website that can transform and transition through the many faces, stages and ages of my journey through life…
I am known by many for the endless stories I share, which are in fact my life experiences (the cats out of the bag now people!). These stories have always had a way of sparking something positive within a person, whether it be to make a change in their life or empower – it’s an endless chain reaction that travels from person to person.
I have been consistently told by close friends to write my unique adventures down. Now let there be no misunderstandings, my adventures/travels could be as simple as taking an alternative route to work – the magic is serendipity, synchronicity or even Intuition and the outcome or lesson has always been life changing…
When you’re truly in-tune with who you are, you always get what you need at the right time – fact! I try and stay in constant gratitude for things good and not so good in my life. Why? Because I am definitely sure there is something far greater out there that is inspiring me to inspire others…
Hey, I’m not saying that I am the next Paulo Coelho – I’m just another walking earth angel that has been blessed with insight, foresight and a zealous energy, to impart the things that inspire me and the many lessons I have learned along this adventure we call “Life”.
So with no further ado, I proudly present…

The Important Difference between Change and Transition

Any transition serious enough to alter your definition of self will require not just small adjustments in your way of living and thinking but a full-on metamorphosis. -Martha Beck
The difference between change ("what has happened to us") and transition ("how we adjust to what has happened to us"). Here change is an external event while transition is our internal response to the external change event.
When it comes to change, there are three kinds of people: those who make things happen, those who let things happen, and those who are always wondering "what the hell happened?" Change is like a shark in the ocean. Change never stops, never sleeps: it must always keep moving. The good news is if you hate the way things are, they will change. The bad news is if you love the way things are, they are certain to change as well.
Bridges points out the four P’s that people need to make a new beginning. I combine that with my personal acronym for BEST:
Purpose - why we Believe the change is important - People need to understand the reasons, and the logic for making the change so that they can put their minds to it.
Picture - what will Excellent result look and feel like - People need to experience the change in their imagination before they can give their hearts to it.
Plan - what steps will secure Success - People need a clear step-by step plan so they understand how they can get where they need to go.
Partnership - how will mutual Trust be built - People need to know the part they play in the plan so they can personally participate, and make a positive contribution.
I believe change and transition create great opportunities for growth. We all have the power within us to make and embrace big changes that move us forward in major ways.
Do You Trust Yourself?

Extracts from Lori Radun's Article:
To love yourself is to trust yourself. How can you trust other people if you can't trust yourself? The bottom line is that you must feel comfortable with yourself because you know yourself better than anyone does.
When people don't trust themselves, they normally seek guidance from everyone else. It's okay to listen to other people's opinions, as long as you don't allow them to make the final decision for you. What matters is what's most important to you or what works best for you. If you're feeling ambivalent, take the time to listen to your intuition. That little voice inside of you will guide you if you're quiet enough to hear it.
Put that little voice to some tests. When you feel unsure about a decision, listen to what your intuition is saying. Do not let your fears or other defense mechanisms get in the way. Go with your gut and see how things turn out. Every time your intuition is accurate, record the decision in a journal so you can begin to see that you can indeed trust yourself. Do not get discouraged if sometimes you are wrong. Learn from your mistake and move forward. Isn't it better to trust yourself and be wrong than not trust yourself at all?

What is an Empath?
It is very frustrating that the more times we ask this question, the more answers we are likely to get but, because it is a very important question, it deserves a definitive answer. This site is dedicated to both the Empath and the non-Empath alike, so it's vital that the Empathic experience becomes clearly understood. It is time that we get to the core of the issue and share what being an Empath is REALLY all about.
According to the dictionary at Wikipedia, an Empath "is a person capable of psychically reading the emotions of others. This is different from a telepath, who can read specific thoughts and information from the target's mind."
While this definition may touch on the idea in a very broad sense, the veteran Empath knows that what has been described here is actually the phenomenon of emotional contaigion. (For a definition of emotional contaigion, please click here Emotional Contagion). It is certainly true that Emotional Contagion is part of being an Empath but by no means is it the full story. After all, most human beings will experience a degree of Emotional Contagion every day, whether they realize it or not. Sadly, most do not.
Incomplete at best, the above statement simply does not explain the full scope of the Empathic experience and it certainly doesn't explain the degree of the Empath's suffering. Why suffering? So much more happens when an Empath interacts with another sentient being. For that matter, so much more happens when an Empath touches an inanimate object or stands in a place where emotion has been left behind. For the very young, latent (one who is currently suppressing their abilities) or newly emerging Empath, this can be quite the challenge and even very frightening.
Do you think that the very concept of the Empath sounds like something out of a science fiction movie? You wouldn't be alone in your opinion. It doesn't help our case any that most word processing programs do not accept "Empath", "Empaths" or "Empathic" as valid words but we are here to tell you that we arevalid people and we do exist. Our experiences are very real and, because we are Empathic, we feel things to a degree that most other people wouldn't even believe possible so our experience is that much more acute. So, what exactly DO we experience?
The following definition appears mostly on paranormal websites. It states that "An Empath is an individual who is particularly sensitive to the psychic emanations of his or her surroundings, even to a degree of telepathically receiving and experiencing the emotions of others in their proximity."
This certainly broadens the scope a bit and brings in to play the fact that Empaths do not just sense but literally experience the emotions of others. It's important to realize though that the Empath does not only experience other people's feelings as though they were their own. They also experience pain, illness and suffering, often drawing discomfort out of another individual, thereby adopting it as their own. In addition, since the experience tends to occur spontaneously, without the Empath's awareness, it's frequently a tumultuous, traumatic experience, having no root cause in the individual's current scope of reality. This only adds to the Empath's dimension of suffering.
By and large, Empaths are highly sensitive individuals, perceiving energy far beyond the scope of the average person. They are also natural healers, even if they are doing so unwillingly or unconsciously. While most Empaths are altruistic, some are not. When an Empath consciously works to heal the suffering of another being (human, animal or spirit), they may become connected to that being on a telepathic level, literally sensing their relative comfort levels, emotional state and thoughts even over great distances. This, more than anything else, can contribute to codependency. Empaths tend to feel guilty if someone else is in pain and he or she hasn't done anything about it, simply because they know that they can and feel that they should.
Empaths are frequently misunderstood and therefore labeled and lumped in to various categories. They might be considered to be hypochondriacs, schizophrenic or as having Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). They are often the victims of traditionalists who label them as possessed or worse. More often than not, they are treated as though they are emotionally deficient and often told to "toughen up", leading many to suffer from depression or believe that they're going crazy. Nothing could be farther from the truth. They are just trying to live with abilities that they can't control in a world that refuses to believe that those abilities are possible. And more and more Empaths are born, every day.
While most people might use the term "psychic gifts" to describe many of the Empath's natural and inherent abilities, many Empaths would prefer the term "curse". If they had any idea how to turn off their abilities, they would do so in a heartbeat because these abilities create such conflict in their lives. This does not make them bad people. It makes them badly in need of compassion, understanding and a just a little peace of mind. Namaste ~

The Holy Shadow - A Sufi Story
There once lived a saint so good that the angels came from heaven to see how a man could be so godly. This saint went about his daily life diffusing virtue as the stars diffuse light and the flowers scent, without being aware of it. His day could be summed up by two words -- he gave, he forgave -- yet these words never passed his lips. They were expressed in his ready smile, his kindness, forbearance, and charity.
The angels said to God, "Lord, grant him the gift of miracles."
God replied, "Ask what it is that he wishes."
They said to the saint, "Would you like the touch of your hands to heal the sick?"
"No," answered the saint. "I would rather God do that."
"Would you like to convert guilty souls and bring back wandering hearts to the right path?"
"No, that is the angels' mission. It is not for me to convert."
"Would you like to become a model of patience, attracting men by the luster of your virtues, and thus glorifying God?"
"No," replied the saint. "If men should be attracted to me, they would become estranged from God." "What is it that you desire, then?" asked the angels.
"What can I wish for?" asked the saint smiling. "That God gives me his grace; with that would I not have everything?"
The angels said, "You must ask for a miracle, or one will be forced upon you." "Very well," said the saint. "That I may do a great deal of good without ever knowing it."
The angels were perplexed. They took counsel and resolved upon the following plan: every time the saint's shadow fell behind him or to either side, so that he could not see it, it would have the power to cure disease, soothe pain, and comfort sorrow.
When the saint walked along, his shadow, thrown on the ground on either side or behind him, made arid paths green, caused withered plants to bloom, gave clear water to dried-up brooks, fresh color to pale children, and joy to unhappy men and women.
The saint simply went about his daily life diffusing virtue as the stars diffuse light and the flowers scent, without being aware of it. The people, respecting his humility, followed him silently, never speaking to him about his miracles. Soon they even forgot his name, and called him "The Holy Shadow."
This is the ultimate: one has to become the holy shadow, just a shadow of God. This is the greatest revolution that can happen to a human being: the transfer of the center. You are no longer your own center; God becomes your center. You live like his shadow. You are not powerful, because you don't have any center to be powerful.
You are not virtuous; you don't have any center to be virtuous. You are not even religious; you don't have any center to be religious. You are simply not, a tremendous emptiness, with no barriers and blocks, so the divine can flow through you unhindered, uninterpreted, untouched -- so the divine can flow through you as he is, not as you would like him to be. He does not pass through your center -- there is none.

Head 2 Heart - After all life is having a dream bigger than yourself...

I met Angel on the way home from work on a bus. I sat down put on my MP3 Player, looking forward to going home and resting in the warmth. Angel was sat facing me, she kept asking the guy beside me "is this was the bus going to London Bridge?" and "what time is it". The guy didn't pay her any attention and Angel seemed to be on the verge of tears.
I began to strike up a conversation with her. She told me that she was lost and her phone was dead and had been trying to get in touch with her uncle. etc etc, I decided to lend her my phone so that she could make a call.
Whilst she was on the phone, I felt this strong pull. The kind of pull or gut feeling that we normally choose switch off from or ignore...the one where u know really you should do or say something, but begin to rationalize it away in your head and realize it possibly could be a bigger responsibility and burden than you have the resources and ability to deliver
I intuitively knew that some of what she was saying was half truths and it seemed to be more about not wanting the people she had left where she was out of fear. After her calls she gave me my phone back, I felt her energies of worry loss, suicide, babies, freedom, insecure, regret and anguish...
I put my phone back in my bag, put on my MP3 Player trying to relax again, but those feeling just kept going on and on and coming back.... just as I was about to get off the bus I asked her "Is there anything I can do for you?" she replied "I just want someone to talk to" Now I'm sure in a normal persons head that means having a coffee in Starbucks. Nope to me that entailed me inviting her into my home....(does that make me ab-normal?)
At my home she spoke to me about her family and the abuse she suffered, she told me that she was forced into having sex (she was pregnant as a result I'm not sure, will she keep the baby I'm not sure) she spoke of mental abuse...she spoke of having a better life for herself...dreams of being a model
I started making calls to women refuges/hostels the same night. The following morning...lunchtime and afternoon...I had no joy. Angel had stayed with me a night and day. My random act of kindness ended up being an emotional one...the organizations that i called couldn't believe what i had just done......(does that make me ab-normal?)
However as much as they wanted to help and assist Angel and me, they were no places or rooms available. It was getting late and my faith was wearing thin. We had traveled all over London...I knew I may have needed to tell Angel that she would have to go on her way as I had done all that I could and had other commitments, How would she cope? Where would she go? Would she kill herself as she had been threatening earlier? as much as I told myself "she's not my responsibility"...the sicker I became
I sat and i prayed with the little energy and reserves I had left, then began to make some more calls, just as i was about to give up we had struck gold Angel received a place at women refugee
She was saved...for now.
What would you have done???
followed your head and ignored her, gave her some money, food and wish her all the best and said a prayer for her or opened up your home to her???
(Remember rewards for acts of faith normally occur at the 11th hour, if they occurred at the 1st minute why need to have faith?)
Follow your heart; do as much as possible, treat other how you would have wished to be treated...unconditionally after all Love is not just a word it's a verb. "God is a verb" R. Buckminster. Love like God is an action verb,
Follow your head and heart; do as much as you can but with the notion that you are called to do your best nothing more or nothing less. The rest is someone else's responsibility namely God. Psalm 82:6 says "I have said, Ye are gods" so ask yourself today and tomorrow what am I doing and what will I be doing?
This experience and my encounter with Angel gave me the inspiration. "Head to Heart" after all life is about as Angel reminded me having a dream bigger than yourself and working towards achieving it, with the right support and people around us we can achieve anything.

More is Within...

More is within you
More is within me
More is within all
You kiss me softly where in another location
I was there to witness your transformation
Overwhelming joy on this happy occasion
Great minds collect when I’m connected to your aura
Blinding lights heading towards the most high
Collecting together to unifyI float away to an untouchable place, endless space, this place is boundless
No bridges remain, just a complete union of fusion
Let’s go to the core we now call the centre
If things seem unclear come near let hold you
Nothing I’m about to say is going to bound or consume you
The things we touched on so meaningful
The place we was at so beautiful
All I did was tell you this dream
Certain rules have been broken
From me being so open
More is within you
More is within me
More is within all

Serenity
Serenity have you seen her?
How her name caresses and touches my core
she resides in a timeless place where there is no beginning middle nor end
Where love and hate is a combined force
Where heaven and hell are untouchable locations
Its isn't a place for the faint hearted nor a place where mankind can get to
Serenity is amongst the clouds on a stormy night
she emerges and on ever thunder clap
finds her lost souls in the black pit of the night
when the lightning strikes it is serenity working her charms to assist those in need
Serenity I have seen her she came to me in a dream
and raptures my soul and calmed my inner soul
she came and gave me a message of 'love and well being'
though she never said a word she came to me at a time of moan
she laid on me and cradled me from behind
as if to nurture my pain away
Serenity placed her hand beside mine and mine on top of hers
our fingers interlocked an intimacy shared
once clasped she transported me to places I'd only dreamt about
felt things i could have only imagined
at that vital moment we were one as a combined force
fighting the negativity and doubt that was entrapped in my mind
Serenity kept me safe, she was the balance I longed for
and important ingredient that was needed towards my healing process
we conquered past and present relationships on all levels
chipped away the vast masses of negativity and self doubt
the mountains of self destructions the piles of regret and fear
we travelled to the end of the world and back again -could that be so?
Serenity gave me a box -a spectrum emerged with so many vibrant colours beaming out
The box represented my mind and the spectrum represented the life that lies within me
For every colour has its own its own meaning never limited just free flowing and glorious
assisted me in tearing down worlds that's enslaved me and stopped my personal growth
and has now allowed me to break free from the constraints that held me back
Serenity - everything and anything i need i now know lies within me
and not in the hands of another.
the signs light the way for me and act as a constant reminder
So next time the sky opens up and the earth begins to shake and roars as in in distress
dint be fearful, that's serenity fighting for your life...

Access your inner power
As we approach a time for transition, our lives have been giving us signals about what’s working and what’s not working for some time. Some of us have developed a habit of not listening to ‘our selves’.
Learning to listen to your inner voice/intuition is a difficult thing because most of us don’t take the time to listen to our selves. We forget that our inner-voice/intuition already tells us the true answers. What comes at you from the outside is what people think that you should think
Life is a constant challenge, seeking direction, understanding and purpose. I've learned my inner-voice/intuition is one of the most important factors especially during the most challenging times. By listening to the voice that continues to let us know what we want, no matter how many times we override its messages.
As we build a relationship with our inner voice/intuition, and follow it, we begin to see that we don’t always have to do what we’re being asked to do by others, and we don’t have to jump on every trend. All we have to do is have the confidence to listen to our own voice and let it guide us as we make our own decisions in life and remember the necessity for balance.
Intuition is not something for the privileged few. We all have intuition and it's just a matter reconnecting and inviting it into your life. Working to develop your intuition and to learning how it speaks to you can help you make decisions.
My role through this process is through deep listening, both to what are said and unsaid, my inner voice communicates with yours and what is in your heart. I do this by acting as a mirror for what is already right there in your heart and what is, deep down, you already know to be true about yourself.
You really are the best expert on you. No one knows you like you do. I simply assist you in identifying and aligning with your strengths, encourage you to deepen your awareness of yourself on many levels of passion, limitations, needs, skills, challenges and talents. This is primarily done through a deepening process of skilful self-observation.
Make a point to really be still and listen to your life.
